ATP Science MAGx4 — Four Forms of Magnesium. One Scoop. All Bases Covered.

MAGx4 is ATP Science's multi-form magnesium powder — a 2.5g berry-flavoured daily supplement that delivers 150mg of elemental magnesium per serve from four distinct magnesium compounds, each with a different absorption mechanism and primary benefit. Most magnesium supplements use a single cheap form. MAGx4 uses four premium forms chosen for their complementary profiles: Magnesium Orotate Dihydrate, Magnesium Threonate, Magnesium Bisglycinate and Magnesium Citrate. No artificial colours, flavours or sweeteners. 100g / 40 serves. In stock now at EatMe Supplements.

What Magnesium Does — and Who's Deficient

Magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in the human body and is involved in muscle contraction, nerve transmission, cardiac rhythm, protein synthesis and energy production. Studies consistently show a large proportion of the general population consumes insufficient dietary magnesium — a shortfall that's made worse by factors common to active people: exercise increases magnesium excretion through sweat and urine, stress depletes magnesium status, high carbohydrate intake requires more magnesium for glucose metabolism, and alcohol and certain medications further deplete it.

Reviewers describe specific outcomes: two call out improved sleep quality after starting MAGx4, one notes a reduction in migraine frequency, and another finds it doesn't cause the stomach upset that other magnesium powders do. The bisglycinate inclusion is the reason for the last point — it's the most GI-friendly form available.

Nutrition Per Serve (2.5g)

  • Energy: 15 kJ (4 Cal)
  • Protein: 0.0g
  • Fat, Total: 0.0g
  • Carbohydrate: 0.4g (Sugars 0.1g)
  • Sodium: <1mg
  • Magnesium: 150mg

Why Four Forms and Not One?

Magnesium is a cofactor in over 300 enzymatic reactions in the body — it's involved in muscle contraction and relaxation, nerve function, electrolyte balance, energy production (ATP synthesis), sleep regulation, blood sugar management and bone density. Different magnesium compounds have different bioavailability, different tissue distribution, and different clinical applications. A product that combines them addresses more of magnesium's roles simultaneously than any single form can.

The four forms in MAGx4:

  • Magnesium Orotate Dihydrate (540mg) — magnesium bound to orotic acid. Orotate is a natural substance involved in energy metabolism and cell regeneration. Magnesium Orotate has been studied specifically for cardiovascular support and cellular energy production — research includes heart failure outcomes in clinical settings. It penetrates cell membranes effectively due to the orotic acid carrier, making it one of the more bioavailable forms for intracellular magnesium delivery.
  • Magnesium Threonate (530mg) — the form specifically studied for cognitive performance and brain magnesium levels. Threonate is the only magnesium compound shown in research to effectively cross the blood-brain barrier and meaningfully raise magnesium concentrations in cerebrospinal fluid and brain tissue. Studies show Magnesium Threonate supports cognitive function, memory and sleep quality through its brain-specific uptake mechanism. This is the premium inclusion that sets MAGx4 apart from standard magnesium stacks.
  • Magnesium Bisglycinate (450mg) — magnesium bound to two glycine molecules. The glycine chelation makes it highly bioavailable and extremely gentle on the digestive system — bisglycinate is the form specifically recommended for people who experience gastrointestinal upset from other magnesium forms (like magnesium oxide, which commonly causes loose stools at higher doses). Glycine itself is a calming amino acid that supports sleep and the body's natural relaxation response, adding a secondary benefit to the muscle relaxation effect of the magnesium itself.
  • Magnesium Citrate (230mg) — the most widely researched form, well-absorbed, with strong evidence for muscle function, electrolyte support and bowel motility. A reliable baseline form that ensures broad systemic magnesium delivery.

Composition Per Serve

  • Magnesium Orotate Dihydrate: 540mg
  • Magnesium Bisglycinate: 530mg
  • Magnesium Threonate: 450mg
  • Magnesium Citrate: 230mg

What’s Inside

Magnesium Orotate Dihydrate, Magnesium Bisglycinate, Natural Flavours, Magnesium Threonate, Food Acids (Malic Acid, Citric Acid), Magnesium Citrate, Natural Colour (Beet Red Extract), Natural Sweetener (Thaumatin).

No artificial colours, flavours or sweeteners. Vegan-friendly. Produced in ATP Science's Brisbane HACCP and GMP certified facility.

How to Take It

Mix 1 flat scoop (approx. 2.5g) into 250ml of cold water. Shake well. Take 1–2 serves daily, or as directed by a healthcare practitioner. Taking it in the evening is common — the bisglycinate and threonate forms both have research support for sleep quality and the glycine component of bisglycinate has a calming effect appropriate for end-of-day use.
